Thursday – Arrival day 25 Hours Thunderhill
Thursday was a travel day. Rob, Tim, Norm, John and I made the trek up from Southern California, picked up a weekend’s worth of supplies and made it up to the track in time for some last minute engine tuning that garnered us some extra horsepower – always a good thing.
Mark was already at the track. We’re expecting the rest of the team throughout the day today.
So far, so good. Our pit and paddock space couldn’t be better giving us quick access to the paddock from our pit. (Special thanks to Marcus and Dean for eyeing a great paddock spot for us and keeping it from being commandeered by the paddock police!) The weather is beautiful (albeit cold). No fog overnight tonight so we’re crossing our fingers it holds off through the weekend but we’re prepared either way. And I snagged the best room – a view of pit lane, Turn 5, and the sunrise (I’m sure we’ll be seeing all of those the next couple days!).
Today (Friday) is just getting started and is going to be a busy one. A full day of testing followed by a short qualifying session while making final preparations for the race tomorrow then final car preparation. There’s a lot to be done but everybody is in good spirits and looking forward to the challenge.
More to come later…
