Two-Car Effort for Opening Round of Western Endurance Racing Championship at Buttonwillow
Tustin, CA – After the drama and success at Auto Club Speedway last month (see recap and video of the hood pin failing under the March 29th, 2009 post below), the team is ready to tackle the first endurance race of the season – a 3-hour contest at Buttonwillow Raceway Park this weekend. For this race, the team will be fielding a second car, the Weekend-Racer.com #13 Showroom Spec Miata, piloted by John Mueller and Eric Richter. John Mueller ran with the team during the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Eric Richter is new to racing this year, but has already shown great potential. With two cars to service during the endurance race, crew chief Tim Gibson will have his work cut out for him, but the team is confident both cars can finish the race on the podium.
In addition to the endurance race, the team will also be competing in the Performance Touring “E” (PTE) class on Saturday and Sunday, preparing for the NASA Nationals in September. Along with the racing, a pizza and beer garden will be provided on Saturday afternoon.
