RJ Racing Embarks on Ambitious Season with Auto Club Speedway Opening Round

Auto Club Speedway

Tustin, CA – The off-season was too long by all accounts, but after making numerous improvements to the Weekend-Racer.com RJ Racing MX-5, the team will be back on track this weekend, March 28-29, 2009, at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. As the track is a stone’s throw from RJ Racing’s home base in Tustin, California the team is expecting numerous fans at the track to enjoy the weekend’s activities. Guests can also take advantage of the “Passenger Parade Laps”. Take the track in your street car, at reduced speeds, to see what it’s like to drive through the tight turns and on the banked oval at Auto Club Speedway.

The team is certainly ready to take the track. After beating the “sophomore slump” by winning the Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC) last season in a dramatic finale, RJ Racing seeks to defend its WERC title this year. In addition, the team will be participating in its first NASA National Championship races in September. But before you can race at Nationals, you must qualify. RJ Racing will begin its qualifying run this weekend at the legendary Auto Club Speedway (formerly California Speedway), where it will be competing in sprint races in the Performance Touring “E” and Spec Miata classes. Back at the wheel are John Gibson and Rob Gibson. Tim Gibson has taken his crew chief position to a new level, now ably assisted by crew member Norm Sandstrom. Full details are below. Feel free to contact the team directly when you get to the track for precise directions to the team’s garage space.  We will be in Garage 61 on the Garage Map.
